DURITex takes a physical, nonmetal approach. You purchase the DURITex liquid and license the application method used to bond it into each compatible fiber or substrate, creating a treated surface designed to physically disrupt microorganisms on contact.

The application method is brought into the applicable DURITex standards and testing framework. The exact finished application, fiber, construction and use case determine which metrics must be confirmed.

Traditional metal technologies and DURITex do not solve the same design problem in the same way. Metal-based systems may use embedded metal, particles or ion release. DURITex takes a different route: a nonmetal active bonded into the compatible material through a licensed application method.

Published controlled study

UTMB treated-fabric study

In a published SARS-CoV-2 contact testing study, DURITex-bonded 80/20 polycotton fabric showed lower measured viral titres than untreated fabric.

Measured on that treated fabric against an untreated control under the study's laboratory conditions.

Controlled textile summary

100-wash textile summary

A controlled summary reports antibacterial reduction on a documented knitted-fabric swatch after its documented home-laundering protocol.

The swatch was assessed against S. aureus and K. pneumoniae under the documented test method.

For the specific treated textile sample, the intracutaneous response met the test requirements and the sensitization study found no evidence of delayed dermal contact sensitization.
